2022 Kia Carens First Look – The best of both worlds!

Kia has finally launched the all-new Carens ‘Recreational Vehicle’ in the Indian market. The prices of the new Kia Carens start in India at just Rs 8.99 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Kia has aggressively priced this people mover and so it locks horns against a host of cars in the sub Rs 20 lakh segment. Exterior and Colours

The new Kia Carens is unlike any other Kia car we have on sale in India. With the Carens, Kia has debuted its ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy in the country. While design choices are subjective, it does look good. In terms of colour options, there are eight colours to choose from. They are – Glacier White Pearl, Intense Red, Sparkling Silver, Moss Brown, Clear White, Aurora Black Pearl, Imperial Blue, and Gravity Gray. 

Interior and Features

Just like the flashy exterior, the Kia Carens has a snazzy interior too. In terms of features, it gets a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Kia’s connected car tech. It also sports an electric sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, etc. The Carens is also the only car in its segment to get safety features like six airbags as standard across all the variants. 

Engine and Transmission

Kia is offering the Carens with not just one or two but a total of three engine options. It gets a 115 hp 1.5-litre petrol motor, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox; a 140 hp 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCT. Also, there is a 115 hp 1.5-litre diesel motor that is paired with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT.

Prices and Rivals

The new 2022 Kia Carens is available in five variants. They are – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. It has been priced in India between Rs 8.99 lakh – Rs 16.99 lakh, ex-showroom and an introductory offer. The bookings for the Kia Carens are already open. This people mover rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki XL6, Hyundai Alcazar, etc.
