At the age of 71-years Omprakash lost his life to the COVID-19 virus. After this, Savitri his wife who was 65 years old passed away too, just 48 hours later. As for their last ride, they decided that the treks were a little too demanding so they shifted to biking. But on their last trip with the Road Thrill team in January, the couple got to live out a piece of their trekking life. The group had coordinated what they call a yearly Temple Run—a bicycle outing to a sanctuary to get going the new year. This year, it was the Gomateshwara sanctuary in Shravanabelagola, about 145km from Bengaluru. One necessity to climb 700 stages to get to the sanctuary on the highest point of the slope. “Most riders on the trip didn’t want to make the climb,” Jacinth says. “But Omprakash was the first one to reach the top.”

Even during the first wave of Pandemic, they continued to ride, however, in the second wave to this Pandemic, they got infected by the virus and are unfortunately no more.
