Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, who organises the Tokyo motor show said that “We have concluded that it will be difficult to offer our main programs where many visitors get to experience attractive features of mobility in a safe environment.”

“The Tokyo auto show showcases motorbikes, minicars, large vehicles, passenger cars, as well as mobility vehicles of other industries,” Toyoda said. “As such, we would like to prioritise having visitors experience these vehicles in the real world, and we would rather hold the event in the real world, not virtually. So, we have decided to cancel the event,” he further added.

The Tokyo engine show’s wiping outcomes only three months before Japan is set to have the Olympics, which was at that point moved back by a year. At the point when it returns in 2022 or 2023, the Tokyo engine show will be rebranded as a ‘portability show’ to mirror the undeniably different field of transportation arrangements on the proposal from all the Japanese producers.

A virtual variant of the 2021 occasion, tantamount to the 2020 Geneva engine show, was never on the cards, as indicated by Toyoda. He has clarified the occasion might want to focus on having guests experience these vehicles in reality, and we would prefer to hold the occasion in reality, not essentially. Subsequently, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association has chosen to drop the occasion.
