For the Countach itself, it has been said that the designers have used plenty of new bits, especially towards the rear of the car. The placement of the headlights and the sculpting on the bonnet are some bits that are taken from the original. The front wheel arch and the plunging window line have been evolved, like the Diablo, and the designers have also evolved the iconic NACA ducts, as well as the big rectangular fighter-jet-like intakes on the roof. Whereas, at the rear, there are the flat two-dimensional tail has been replaced with something more angular.

As for the powertrain, it comes with the 6.5-liter, V12 engine, though with a supercapacitor for enhanced acceleration and lower emissions. The V12 on its own makes 780hp while the electric motor develops 34hp. It is also combined with the hybrid V12 that puts out 800hp, which is sent to all four wheels via a permanent all-wheel-drive system. The brand claims that it can do the 0-100kph sprint in just 2.8sec, go from 0-200kph in 8.6sec, and then on to a top speed of 355kph.

Commenting on the powertrain chief technical officer Maurizio Reggiani said, “We have 780hp against 770hp that we have in the Sian. In terms of hardware, the supercapacitor in the electric motor is the same, and 48V is able to provide 34hp. But the difference between Sian and Countach is in the application, here we have tried to give much more emphasis on the strong delivery of torque.”

Aston Martin Limited Edition Valkyrie Spider revealed

According to reports, it got revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as part of Monterey Car Week in California, USA, the Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider. It is said to be limited to just 85 examples, and the availability for customers is said to be next year.

For the power output, this new limited edition gets the Cosworth-developed, hybridized 6.5-litre V12 is unchanged, at 1139hp, and revisions to the hypercar’s carbon-fiber tub and aerodynamics package ensure the Spider is closely matched to the hard-top in performance terms. There have been recalibrations made to suit the car’s new shape, while the weight penalty – usually a pitfall of convertible models – is kept to a minimum by use of a removable carbon-fiber roof section and polycarbonate roof windows.

The most significant modification on the Spider is the replacement of the Valkyrie’s gullwing-style center-hinged doors with front-hinged scissor doors. With these modifications in place, Aston Martin claims a marginal weight difference and says the Spider will top out at more than 349kph (217mph), or 330kph (205mph) with the roof off.

CEO Tobias Moers said the Spider takes the Valkyrie’s “passion and emotion to the next level” and also that he “can’t wait to hear” the mid-mounted engine revving to its 11,000rpm redline with the roof removed. There is no current news of it coming to the Indian market, and as this is a limited edition model the chances for it coming become even lower.
