Ola Electric Scooter gets 100,000 reservations within a day. The brand has announced that its electric scooter broke records as it received 100,000 reservations within the first 24 hours of the pre-booking for this scooter.

Commenting on this Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola said “I am thrilled by the tremendous response from customers across India for our first electric vehicle. The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs. This is a huge step forward in our mission to transition the world to sustainable mobility. I thank all the consumers who have booked the Ola Scooter and have joined the EV revolution. This is only the beginning!”

The brand had opened the reservation for its electric scooter in the evening of July 15th. It can easily be reserved by just paying ₹499 via olaelectric.com. The company is seeing unprecedented demand from
customers who continue to throng the website to book the scooter in record numbers. 

In a Press release, Ola has mentioned that the Scooter is a revolutionary product from Ola Electric, with class leading speed, unprecedented range, the biggest boot space as well as advanced technology that make it the best scooter customers can buy. They have also mentioned that it will be priced aggressively to make it widely accessible. Ola will reveal the features and price in the coming days.

Okinawa bets big on Gujarat EV Policy aims to expand its customer base in the upcoming year. The brand has announced big plans to capture a significant market share in the state of Gujarat with its affordable electric scooters. With being a member of the Gujarat Energy Development Agency, the company also looks forward to contributing to the rapid EV adoption in the State. Currently, Okinawa has a strong network of dealerships which it aims to expand by 50% by the end of the current fiscal year.

Commenting on the same Mr. Jeetender Sharma, MD & Founder of Okinawa Autotech states “The state government has made an exceptional move that would allow more buyers from the bottom of the pyramid to ride and prosper with electric two-wheelers. To help the state achieve its goal of having 2 lakh electric vehicles on the road in the next four years. In order to assist the government in achieving this aim, we are also extending our presence and footing in the region.”

The company currently has a customer base of over 5,000 in Gujarat and is optimistic to triple the numbers by 2022. Okinawa has been seeing high traction for its high-speed scooters pan India which are Okinawa Ridge+, Okinawa Praise Pro, and Okinawa iPraise+ amongst the entire range, with the features such as anti-theft sensor, side-stand sensor, keyless entry, and a “Find My Scooter” location tracker for enhanced safety for the end-users. With prices cut from ₹84,795 to ₹57,848 for the Okinawa Praise Pro, ₹69,000 to ₹44,391 for the Okinawa Ridge+, and ₹1,17,600 to ₹79,708 for the Okinawa iPraise+, effective 1st July 2021 makes the brand more affordable.

Okinawa says that they have tied up with several banks, NBFC, Fintech Co, Leasing & retail companies to expand the customer base. The company aims to make it easy and well within the reach of every single person to possess Okinawa’s scooters.

Audi announces new charging options and benefits for EV customers. All Audi e-Tron and Audi e-Tron Sportback customers who buy the SUV in 2021 will receive two chargers which include an 11kW compact charger and an additional wall-box AC charger that can be set up at the customer preferred location. In addition, key Audi India dealerships will be equipped with a 50kW DC fast charger too.

Commenting on this announcement Mr. Balbir Dhillon, Head of Audi India said, “The charging process is central to the everyday usability of an EV. This tool is also being made available on the Audi India website as well as the ‘myAudi Connect’ App under the ‘Chargers near me’ section, as a ready reference for all-electric car users in India. Mercedes-Benz launches AMG E 53 4MATIC+ and AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+

Mercedes-Benz launches AMG E 53 4MATIC+ and AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+. The AMG E 53 4M+ is the second AMG 53 series product that has been introduced in India, while the AMG E 63 S 4M+ according to the maker provides the “AMG brand promise of ‘Driving Performance’ to all performance purists.” The 63 series models still have the Mercedes-AMG’s core model series, and now features a better design, improved aerodynamics, and provides superior comfort.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG E 53 4MATIC+ is priced at Rs. 1.02 Crores while the AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ is priced at Rs. 1.70 Crores. The maker has also revealed the Service packages which start at Rs. 119,300 for E53 4MATIC+ and Rs. 135,200 for E63s 4MATIC+.

Commenting on the launch Santosh Iyer, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India said “Today we introduce two new AMG performance sedans for the Indian customers which presents scintillating performance associated with the AMG brand promise of ‘Driving Performance’. Both these sedans not only offer exceptional performance and vehicle dynamics but also increased comfort while retaining the hallmark AMG character. With the AMG E 63 S 4M+ and AMG E 53 4M+, we further rejuvenate our AMG portfolio especially for those performance purists, who always wanted a fine balance between racetrack performance and daily drivability in their performance cars. With both these AMGs, we now offer an unmatched product combination in the luxury performance sedan segment in India.”

As for the car itself, there are two new, flatter taillights with two sections on the tail end of the car. They now extend into the boot lid, where they are visually linked with a trim. There is now a reshaped rear apron that emphasizes the broad effect on the car and also has a positive effect on aerodynamics. Furthermore, there are the new 20-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, with a wider aero rim edge, painted in a choice of matt black or high-gloss tantalum grey. 

While for the interior it now comes with an addition of a Widescreen Cockpit, an AMG Performance steering wheel, and the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific functions and displays, reiterating its membership of the AMG family. Users can switch between the three AMG display styles of “Modern Classic”, “Sport” and “Supersport”.

On the Steering Wheel, there is a twin-spoke design with seamlessly integrated buttons along with the new AMG Performance steering wheel creates an even closer link between human and machine. The three rounded twin spokes combine stability with lightness and the steering wheel. 

We also have the powertrain details and the E 53 4MATIC+carries a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder in-line engine with an exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric additional compressor. It can go at a top speed of 250 km/h. While the E 63 S 4MATIC+ gets a more performance-heavy 4.0-liter V8 with direct injection and twin turbochargers one, with a top speed of 300 km/h.

Tata Motors launches the XPRES brand for fleet customers. Under the XPRES brand, the company will introduce offerings, catering to fleet-specific needs of safety, passenger comfort, and low cost of ownership. All vehicles for the fleet segment will sport an elegantly designed XPRES badge, clearly differentiating them from the New Forever range of cars and SUVs that cater to the requirements of the personal segment.

Announcing the launch of the XPRES brand, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “We are delighted to launch the Xpres brand which will introduce smarter, future-ready mobility solutions to cater to the special needs of all fleet customers – government, corporates, and mobility services. Electric Vehicles deliver a very low cost of ownership, with minimal maintenance, at the same time offer a very comfortable and pleasant drive. This makes them an ideal choice for intra-city mobility services. 

Tata Motors has confirmed that the first vehicle under the XPRES brand would be launched shortly, and it will be an Electric Sedan, called the ‘XPRES-T’ EV. It is targeted at mobility services, corporate and government fleet customers, the XPRES-T EV will come with optimal battery size, captive fast charging solution, which will ensure outstandingly low cost of ownership in addition to safety and passenger comfort, making it a comprehensive and attractive proposition for fleet owners and operators.

It would be available at select dealerships in India for bookings. Furthermore, it comes with 2 range options – 213km and 165km, it packs a high energy density battery of 21.5 kWh and 16.5 kWh and can be charged from 0- 80% in 90 mins and 110 mins. It comes with zero tail-pipe emission, single-speed automatic transmission, dual airbags, ABS with EBD as standard across variants.

Land Rover Discovery, a Seven-seater Premium SUV introduced in India. The prices start from ₹ 88.06 Lakh. The brand claims that the New Discovery combines an exceptional design evolution with a versatile and intelligently packaged interior. It features the latest generation of powerful and efficient six-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel engines, advanced Pivi Pro infotainment, superior comfort and practicality.

Commenting on the launch Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India said, “The new Discovery, while retaining Land Rover’s legendary breadth of capability, offers renewed levels of refinement, luxury and efficiency which make it the best full-size SUV for the outdoors and adventure-filled journeys with the family”.

The design includes the clamshell bonnet, the stepped roof and the highly visible C-pillar – remain, but New Discovery delivers a bold exterior evolution optimized to project a more confident road presence. There is the new signature LED headlights with a daytime running light signature that create a more purposeful look too. A revised front bumper features a wider body-coloured graphic and new side vents combine for a more purposeful and dynamic appearance.

As for the inside, it is designed to highlight the premium position and craftsmanship of its full-size seven-seat layout. It gets Pivi Pro infotainment which is a completely redesigned centre console that houses its 48% larger 28.95 cm full HD touchscreen. There is also the high-definition 3D mapping within the instrumentation, leaving the central touchscreen free to control other applications.  The Passenger comfort is supported by Cabin Air Ionisation, now available with PM2.5 air filtration technology. There is also an easy-to-use system also includes USB-A charging sockets that are perfectly located to minimize trailing wires.

Moving to the powertrain now, it gets new straight-six Ingenium engines, both petrol and diesel, with enhanced efficiency, performance and smoothness. These new engines are available alongside Land Rover’s four-cylinder P300 Ingenium petrol powertrain. The diesel engine is available in 221 kW output, while the powerful petrol delivers 265 kW.

Tata Tiago CNG Spied on the test, expected to be launched till Diwali 2021. The Tiago test mule was spied in Pune by Vijay Shinde and the car was not wearing full camouflage, it had even got the sticker that said On Test By ARAI. It had emission testing equipment fitted at the rear. ARAI emission/mileage ratings are believed to be the final phase of testing ahead of the official launch.

As for what we know so far, the design of the CNG variants will be in line with the facelifted version of their standard IC-engine counterparts. So, we don’t expect any major changes in the CNG models in terms of design or dimensions. However, as there haven’t been any images of either model’s interiors we can’t say anything at this moment although we do not expect any drastic differences from the regular model too.

Moving on to the powertrain, according to many leaks it could come with the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine under their hood. The engine would have 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque although in the CNG variants it is likely to generate a lower output. It is said to be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Ola Electric Scooter features leaked; to be launched in India soon

Ola Electric Scooter features leaked; to be launched in India soon. Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola Group CEO and chairman has been hinting about this via his recent tweets about a few insights of the upcoming electric scooter is likely to get. His tweet says that the Ola Electric scooter gets the best-in-class under-seat storage space along with keyless, app-based access.

In addition to that, the Ola electric scooter is likely to get ‘category-leading long-range charge’ as well. This electric scooter is likely to get features like a removable Lithium-ion battery which is something that can be useful, a digital instrument console, cloud connectivity, alloy wheels, telescopic suspension upfront and much more. Furthermore, there have been few reports according to which the plant is said to be built in a record time of four months and promises to be the most advanced ‘green’ factory once the operations begin. They are built with an investment of about ₹ 2,400 crores and will be able to facilitate and generate employment for over 2000 people initially. 

We expect the plant to have 10 general assembly lines and will be able to roll out a scooter every two seconds, and 25,000 batteries per day. These made-in-India scooters are also expected to be exported to other countries like Europe, UK, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, apart from being sold in India.

Audi announces ownership plans for Audi e-tron and Sportback customers. Audi says that these offers will benefit buyers and have been designed to make owning the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback an even more attractive proposition.

Commenting on this announcement, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “We are fully geared to launch the Audi e-tron 50, the Audi e-tron 55 and the Audi e-tron Sportback 55 in India and want to ensure that our customers have the best ownership experience. A very important aspect of this will be After-sales service and we are excited to announce these bespoke plans that will go a long way in enriching the EV experience for our customers. Transitioning to electric mobility will be a journey and we want to make this stress-free at every step of the way.”

Additionally, Audi is offering a choice of Service plans ranging from 2 years to 5 years. A Standard warranty of 2 years and a High Voltage Battery warranty of 8 years or 160,000 KM whichever is earlier is also available. There is an option for Extended Warranty that are available across a period of 2+2 years or 2+3 years. Additionally, Comprehensive Service Plans are available for either 4 years or 5 years, depending on the scheme chosen by the customers.

Under the Comprehensive Service Plan, the costs of service and the periodic maintenance of the brakes, suspension, and Extended Warranty are covered. Furthermore, they also are offering buyback price up to 3 years from the date of purchase, when they decide to upgrade or sell their Audi e-tron 50, the Audi e-tron 55 and Audi e-tron  Sportback 55 in the future. Complimentary 5-year Road Side Assistance has been offered too for providing customers the assurance of having company-trained assistance on call in the unlikely event of their Audi e-tron or Audi e-tron Sportback needing mechanical intervention whilst on the road.

Bugatti confirms that they would be using internal combustion engines

Bugatti confirms that they would be using internal combustion engines. It is said that Bugatti would diversify its line-up and usher in electrification. This is following the signing of a partnership with EV specialist Rimac. But Bugatti has confirmed that they would still continue to offer internal combustion engines.

Commenting on this Porsche chairman Oliver Blume said: “We will continue the business of the Chiron, and we already have ideas for new cars and to develop once again a very unique product. We listened very closely to Bugatti’s fanbase, and for the transition period, we have an idea with more electrification but still retaining a combustion engine. We’re thinking about electrification with a higher grade on Bugatti as well.”

Furthermore, according to Bugatti as part of this joint venture, the brand will have access to electric drivetrains and components developed by Rimac for use in its future models. CEO Mate Rimac has also promised that the marque’s first dedicated EV will be more than simply a re-bodied Rimac Nevera.

“What some people expect might happen is that we take a Nevera and slam a Bugatti logo on it and call it a Bugatti,” he said. “That’s absolutely not going to happen. That’s not what we’re going to do. I’m a car guy, and while of course, we want to make a profitable company, we will not just recycle what we have.
