Revolt Motors resumes bookings for RV400 from 15th July onwards

Revolt Motors resumes bookings for RV400 from 15th July onwards. They are resuming their bookings for the second time across the 6 operational cities from July 15th, 12PM onwards. The brand, currently operational in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad, had opened for bookings last month and received an electrifying response from the customers.

In a release, Revolt Motors mentions that the brand sold INR 50 crores worth of their flagship model RV400 and closed their bookings in less than 2 hours of them going live. The deliveries of the booked motorcycles will start from September 2021.

As for the bike itself, it comes with a 3KW (Mid Drive) motor, powered by a 72V, 3.24KWh Lithium-Ion battery that can churn out a top speed of 85km/h. The bike can be operated through the MyRevolt App, which offers connectivity features such as bike locator/Geo-fencing, customized sounds that you can change with just a tap on the screen, complete bike diagnostics, battery status, historical data on your rides, and KMs done, and also the option of locating the nearest Revolt Switch Station to swap your Revolt’s battery at, and be on-the-move in less than 60 seconds.

The bike also features three riding modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport. According to the brand each one is suiting to the riding style and needs of the driver. It also comes with Upside Down (USD) forks up-front and a fully adjustable monoshock at the rear to give an unparalleled riding experience.

Puma Rally 1 hybrid is the entry for Ford in 2022 WRC

Puma Rally 1 hybrid is the entry for Ford in 2022 WRC. It would be used for the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team’s upcoming challenger in the 2022 World Rally Championship. The WRC cars would switch to hybrid powertrains and the Puma Rally 1 would be the one replacing the successful Fiesta WRC racer.

It has been unveiled as a prototype of the new machine at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As the rules retain the current 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engines it has been added as a standard spec 136hp hybrid electric motor, and also it is being powered by a 3.9kWh battery.

M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson said: “The new era of WRC cars is one of the biggest technological advancements in WRC to date. The introduction of the hybrid means that the cars will be more powerful than ever, whilst also directly reflecting the powertrains within their road-going counterparts.”

“The switch to the Puma is very exciting, with the name already having rally heritage,” he said. “The car looks fantastic, and I cannot wait to see it at the start line of the famous Monte Carlo Rally in early 2022.”

The Cumbrian-based squad already been in the run for the Fiesta WRC since 2011, from when it was Ford’s global WRC team. Whereas it has been a privateer squad since 2012, it has maintained close ties with Ford, which is keen to showcase the performance credentials of both the Puma crossover and its hybrid technology.

Harley-Davidson LiveWire ONE launched at a much lower price tag of $21,999 which is approximately ₹16.42 lakh

Harley-Davidson LiveWire ONE launched. The LiveWire ONE as the electric motorcycle is called and it has been listed at a much lower price tag of $21,999 which is approximately ₹16.42 lakh. When compared to the price the original LiveWire is cheaper than was announced two years ago, at $29,799 which was approximately ₹22.24 lakh. While Harley-Davidson mentions that the LiveWire ONE comes with “evolved software and hardware,” a lot of the other details of the changes have not been announced.

Commenting on the launch Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO, Harley-Davidson said, “As part of The Hardwire Strategy, we made a commitment that Harley-Davidson would lead in electric. We recognized the pioneering spirit and brand value in LiveWire for our community and took the decision to evolve the original LiveWire motorcycle into a dedicated EV brand. Today’s LiveWire ONE builds on the DNA of Harley-Davidson but with the electric focus and ambition of the new LiveWire brand. Harley-Davidson and LiveWire will continue to rewrite the motorcycle rulebook and we are excited about this next chapter in our legacy,” 

It comes with four pre-set ride modes, Road, Rain, Range and Sport, with throttle response, power and regenerative braking optimised for each model. The traction control system can also be refined according to individual rider requirements, with three settings, Low, Medium and High. Whereas the Revelation powertrain offers constant acceleration from 0, producing 75 kW (100 bhp) from the electric motor and 117 Nm of torque. The company claims that the battery can provide 235 km of city range, over 150 km of combined stop-and-go usage too. It comes with a 110 v home wall socket and can be charged 100 per cent in 11 hours, while with a DC Fast Charger, it can be 100 per cent charged in just one hour.

Mercedes has brought in some newer exterior enhancements which include black elements and chrome embellishments on the outside. There is the new high-gloss black for the front apron, ORVMs, and the louvres. It looks even more contrasty with the high-gloss chrome trim, a high-gloss black beltline trim, and even a window weatherstrip. But there is one thing about which we still are not sure about which is the confirmation if it gets the latest MBUX infotainment system on the inside or not.

Moving on, we have the powertrain which just like the C-Class on sale can be had in two options – C200 and C220d. The petrol C200 is powered by a 201bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, while the oil-burner C220d derives power from a 2.0-litre diesel unit churning out 192bhp of power. Also, both of these come mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter to launch soon in Nagpur

Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter to launch soon in Nagpur. The company has announced on its social media channels that its battery-powered Chetak scooter will soon go on sale in Nagpur. Multiple reports say that the company has commenced registrations, while the bookings are also expected to start soon.

Chetak Electric Scooter competes with the other Scooters like the Electric Scooters from Ather and one thing where Ather is far ahead was the actual availability. While the Bajaj may be available in a few cities only, Ather on the other side was available in a lot of different cities. But it seems like Bajaj is making the Chetak available to a few more cities now and after Nagpur, we could see more cities in India get it. 

Let me give you some more insights on the Chetak too, it is offered in two trims which are Urbane and Premium. The Urbane trim is priced at 1.42 lakh while the Premium trim retails at a slightly higher 1.44 lakh.

Furthermore, it features a 3.8kW motor which is powered up by a non-removable 3kWh IP67 lithium-ion battery pack. The company claims that this battery pack is capable of delivering a full charge range of 95km while it is set in the Eco mode. Bajaj also claims that the scooter has a top speed of 70kmph and it can be charged using an under-seat built-in charger that can be connected to a 5A power socket.

As for what we know about the car till now, it could get features like a large SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multifunction steering wheel, and an automatic gearbox with a brake regeneration function. Since the electric vehicle is expected to be a premium product offering in India, the vehicle is expected to get an automatic climate control option too.

While for the exterior, the Futuro-E will get split headlamps and newly designed alloy wheels. We believe that the side profile has the U-shaped black alloy wheels as the major highlight while the rear end will feature vertically stacked LED tail lamps with stoplights in the middle of the tailgate. The bumper is will likely get circular fog lights as well.

This Futuro-E could also have support for fast charging option that can charge up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes. There have been multiple reports according to which the company could offer a driving range of up to 200kms and it would be based on the Heartect platform that underpins the current-gen ICE powered Wagon R.

Mercedes-Benz India leads the luxury car market. Registers a strong growth in the first half of 2021 with a 65% sales jump

India’s largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India today announced it has retailed 4857 units in the January-June 2021 period buoyed by new product introductions, recording a robust 65% growth over the same period last year. The June 2021 retail, in particular, signifies the first signs of a strong recovery in customer sentiments influenced by factors like new product portfolio and gradual unlocking of markets leading to an uptick in economic activities.

Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “Our H1 2021 sales growth is in line with the market sentiments and strongly underlines a continuing high customer demand for models. We have built a solid order bank on the back of new launches and it is highly satisfying to witness an all-round rise in demand for our products across the portfolio. Starting from the A-Class Limousine to the GLS Maybach and the AMG, customers have highly appreciated our product launches by strongly preferring a Mercedes-Benz and an AMG over other models; reiterating their confidence and trust in our product portfolio and customer-oriented market strategy.”

As expected, the LWB E-Class and GLE are the top-selling cars for Mercedes-Benz India. The LWB E-Class remained the single highest-selling model for Mercedes-Benz followed by the GLE luxury SUV.

And the new entrants also put up a stellar show, the A-Class Limousine & New GLA have attracted first-time luxury car buyers.

And even with a slew of Luxury EV launches, the strong order intake for EQC indicates a sustained customer interest for India’s first luxury EV.

Buying a luxury car online would have been a joke a few years ago but is now a major source of sales. For Mercedes-Benz India, online sales continue their prominence with 20% penetration in H1 2021 sales. For April-May lockdown period online sales penetration was at 35%. More than 25000+ leads generated by online sales alone, in H1 2021.

“The demand for all our products in June were in particularly strong. We have ramped up our production and sales from July, to match the great customer feedback on our models,” added Mr Schwenk.

Production has been gradually ramped up from July and designed flexibly in order to be able to react to current developments. The health and safety of our employees are of utmost importance to us and protective measures against COVID-19 have been determined for our employees, following all the mandated guidelines.

2021 BMW 2 Series Coupe revealed

2021 BMW 2 Series Coupe revealed. It was going to have a debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and a subsequent introduction in international markets in early 2022.

As for the car itself, starting off with the design it has seen a big redesign that brings it into line with newer BMW models. Instantly, there are noticeable changes to the vertically oriented grilles that adorn the new 4 Series, M3 and M4 are absent. Furthermore, there is the sportier M240i is marked out specifically by its squared-off sports exhaust, a bespoke front splitter, colour coded rear spoiler, grey trim elements and unique 19-inch M Sport alloy wheels. Whereas the M Sport styling package brings 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, variable sports steering and a host of other optional extras.

As for the powertrain, it is offered in three variants which includes the petrol 220i, with a 2.0-litre turbo four sending 184hp and 300Nm to the rear axle; the 220d, with a mild-hybrid 2.0-litre diesel four making 191hp and 400Nm; and to sum it up the M240i xDrive, which has a 3.0-litre petrol straight six and four-wheel drive. This will top the line-up with 374hp and 500Nm until the full-fat M2 Coupé arrives later in 2022.

There are some other changes to the gearbox too, where each model uses an 8-speed automatic gearbox with launch control and sprint mode functionality. It adds an new electronic rear differential in line with its heightened handling focus, and its xDrive four-wheel drive system is programmed to give a rear bias in true BMW sports car fashion. A mid-rung 244hp 230i variant, due in summer 2022, will also be available with a differential on the rear axle.

Tata Motors takes the premium quotient to a new level with Dark Range. This new range includes Altroz, Nexon, Harrier and the Nexon EV too. The Harrier Dark was launched in Aug’19 and it provided a compelling package to customers who were looking for a Bold, and Stylish SUV. Tata has further added more cars to the Dark franchise. The Dark range is now available at dealerships and is open for bookings.

More about the other cars in the Dark Range, the Altroz is a new top of the line variant that comes in a new Cosmo Black exterior body colour with a dark tint finish on R16 alloy wheels and premium dark chrome across the hood.

While for the Nexon EV Dark, it would be available on the Nexon EV XZ+ and the XZ+ LUX variant. These variants will adorn a premium Midnight Black exterior colour with Satin Black humanity line and beltline, Dark mascot and an all-new Charcoal Grey alloy wheel. The interiors of the car are also accentuated with a dash of Dark themed glossy piano Black mid-pad with premium dark-themed leatherette upholstery with Tri-arrow perforations on seats and door trims.
