Jenson Button has returned to F1, but as a Williams senior advisor #JensonButton

Famed Formula One champion Jenson Button has returned to the Williams team as a senior advisor as part of a multi-year deal with the team.  For some context, Button made his F1 debut with Williams in 2000 at the tender age of 20. The English driver retired in 2016 with 15 grand prix race wins.

Williams announced the appointment on Friday, stating that Button will provide guidance and advice to the team at its Grove headquarters. He will also help as well as provide aid in the development of drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi as well as those currently part of the Williams driver academy.

He will also be attending races this year, to supervise and aid the drivers. Commenting on his return, he said:  “I am so delighted to once again be able to say that I’ve signed for Williams,”

“Back when I was 19 it was a moment that changed my life and, despite the fact it was over 20 years ago, I already feel like I never really left. “Sir Frank Williams showed faith in me which I will be eternally grateful for and I am incredibly excited to have the chance to come back and help the team as it strives once more for success.

“There’s a lot of hard work to be done but I have no doubt the future is incredibly bright for this fantastic team and I can’t wait to get started.”

For those unaware, the Williams family no longer owns the team, having sold it to investment firm Dorilton Capital in August last year. This marked an end of an era, where the team was led by the Williams name.

Giovinazzi believed that he was going to get the 2021 Ferrari seat #AntonioGiovinazzi

Formula One driver Antonio Giovinazzi was in the belief that he would be getting the Ferrari seat for 2021 and admits that he didn’t take the news that well. For those unaware, when Ferrari announced prior to the start of the 2020 campaign that Sebastian Vettel would be leaving at the end of the year, various drivers were in talks to take his seat in F1.

Ultimately Ferrari chose Carlos Sainz instead of Giovinazzi, considering he was the only driver part of Ferrari’s academy.

The Italian driver admits that the decision hurt him, but still believes that he could one day drive for the team. “Of course, I did not receive Ferrari’s decision very well. That seems clear to me,” he told Autosprint.

“I am still employed by Ferrari and I thought there would be a chance for me to race for the Scuderia. Maybe it just wasn’t the right time for me. “Choosing Sainz does not mean that I will not be able to get that seat in the future. A seat at Ferrari will always be my dream.

“I have never received anything for free in my career. I have always had to work hard to earn a place.”

Talking about his 2021 season, Giovinazzi said: “Right now I am focused on Alfa Romeo,” I want to help my team move forward as much as possible and that is why I would like to secure a place on the podium.

“To do that, I have to keep improving and seize my opportunities. Let’s see if that works in 2021.” Team principal Frederic Vasseur believes that Giovinazzi will ultimately step up into the role of a leader.

“I think the next step [for Giovinazzi] is to get more consistency during the race,” Vasseur told Motorsport-Total.com. “But he has been making good progress for a while and is improving in every area.

“He probably has to take the lead of the team on his shoulders to be able to take over some decisions. But we are on the way and he is getting better from race to race. And I’m pretty confident about the next season.”

Honda Files Patent for 2021 Grom #Grom2021

Honda has finally filed a design patent for the 2021 Grom in India. For those unaware, the Grom was spotted testing in India back in 2017. Initially thought to have been launched in 2017, it was never launched in India. It seems it could finally launch, but, do note, It could cost as much as some full-size motorcycles

The MSX 125 or, as it’s more popularly known as the Grom has garnered popularity globally for its small size and fun quotient. Now, the Japanese company has gone ahead and patented the design in India for its latest version of the Grom.

This does suggest that the company might finally think it’s time to bring the minibike to India, but it could also be patented for reasons unknown to the public.

If Honda does bring the Grom to India, it will be more expensive than the company’s last mini bike, dubbed the Navi. While the Navi shared its hardware with the made-in-India Activa, the Grom is a completely unique motorcycle, considering whether we get the global spec in India

The features and equipment on offer are comparable to what you’d get on regular motorcycles these days, including LED lights, a digital instrument cluster and alloys wheels.

The wheelbase is about 1,200mm while the seat height is 761mm only. The Grom also probably has one of the smallest diameter USD forks on a production motorcycle, measuring 31mm.

As for the power, the bike has a 124.9cc, single-cylinder engine that develops 9.7hp and 10.5Nm.  It also comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
