Kia Carnival Limousine Plus launched at INR 24.95 lacs

Kia Carnival Limousine Plus launched at Rs 24.95 lakh in India. This new MPV gets a new top-spec Limousine Plus variant and Kia’s new logo as part of the update.

As for the pricing, starting off with the Premium 7 seater, it is priced at Rs 24.95 lakh while the Premium 8 seater comes at Rs 25.15 lakh. The other Prestige 7 seater is priced at Rs 29.49 lakh and the Prestige 9 seater is priced at Rs 29.95 lakh. There’s also the Limousine 7 seater which is priced at Rs 31.99 lakh and the top end Limousine Plus 7 seater at Rs 33.99 lakh.

As for the Carnival itself, it comes with features like an 8-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, an electronic parking brake, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with seat ventilation, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, premium wood garnish inside, two 10.1-inch rear-seat entertainment screens and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

There is also a single 10.1-inch rear-seat entertainment screen and an auto-dimming internal rear-view mirror. However, the outgoing Limousine variant was also equipped with dual rear screens, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and a powered and ventilated driver’s seat, all of which are now reserved for the top-spec Limousine Plus variant.

Furthermore, the LED projector headlamps have been updated, with the ice-cube LED fog lamps, a powered tailgate, a dual-pane sunroof, power-sliding doors, three-zone automatic climate control, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and cruise control.

As for the powertrain, the Carnival is powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 200hp and 440Nm of torque. Also, Kia claims that the Carnival has an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figure of 13.9kpl.

Tata Motors launches the Gold edition of its Safari SUV

Tata Motors launches the Gold edition of its Safari SUV. This new Gold Edition has priced at INR 21.89 lakhs and Tata says that this edition features an artful blend of class and hi-tech features. The Safari Gold edition will be available in two crafted, special colourways too.

Commenting on the introduction of the Safari Gold, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing, Passenger and Electric Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “In less than five months after its launch, our premium flagship SUV, the new Safari reached the milestone of its 10,000th rollout and today is among the highest selling SUVs in its segment. The Safari has received immense love from our customers and keeping in mind the response, we are delighted to announce the introduction of the prestigious Safari #Gold Edition from Tata Motors. Staying true to its DNA and in line with our New Forever philosophy, Safari #Gold is a vision of luxury and opulence.

The interiors have been further enhanced with premium features like Oyster White Diamond Quilted – genuine leather seats, offering ventilation on both the 1st & 2nd rows, wireless charger, air purifier, Android Auto & Apple Carplay over Wifi too. Also, the Safari Gold will come with R18 Charcoal Black Alloy Wheels. In addition to this new launch, Tata Motors is also extending some of the premium features like the wireless charger, air purifier too. 

As it is still the same Safari, so it is built on the OMEGARC architecture, which in turn is derived from Land Rover’s legendary D8 platform, the Safari possesses the perfect combination of stunning design and performance.

TVS Raider 125 launched in India; prices start from Rs 77,500

TVS Raider 125 launched in India; prices start from Rs 77,500. There is also another variant of this bike that comes with the disc brake-equipped model, that one is priced at Rs 85,469.

As for the Raider itself, the sporty styling elements bring a very funky headlight. It comes with a muscular tank, sharp belly-pan and split-seat set-up are the major takeaways when it comes to design. There is also a very minimalist LED tail-light that is also unique. It is also available in colours that include Black, Yellow, Red and Blue colour as well. 

Moving on, the suspension on the Raider 125 is handled by a telescopic fork and a mono-shock. The latter is gas-charged and offers five steps of preload adjustment. The bike comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. The Raider 125 has a wheelbase of 1,326mm and a seat height of 780mm. The fuel tank can hold 10 litres and the maker claims that it comes with a kerb weight of just 123kg.

Now for the engine, the bike is being powered by a 124.8cc, three-valve, air-cooled engine making 11.4hp at 7,500rpm and 11.2Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. This engine is fuel-injected and comes paired with a five-speed gearbox. 

TVS also says that there would be an optional TFT screen featuring Bluetooth connectivity in a few months’ time. The right-hand side switchgear allows you to toggle between Eco and Power modes. The Raider also has storage space located under the pillion seat.

New 2022 Rugged Toyota RAV4 Adventure revealed

New 2022 Rugged Toyota RAV4 Adventure revealed. The brand says that, with this launch, they are gearing it towards “the great outdoors” and intended to extend the model’s market reach. It is also being dubbed the Toyota RAV4 Adventure, the SUV features interior and exterior tweaks in order to differentiate it from the rest of the RAV4 range.

As for the car itself, starting off with the exterior it now gets styling updates at the front for a more rugged look, including a new black grille, front fog lamps with black surrounds, and silver underbody protection. The model also gains wider wheel arches and 19-inch alloy wheels in matte grey. There are newer LED headlights and LED front foglamps, a 10-spoke alloy wheel design too.

Moving towards the inside, the seats now feature a bespoke upholstery design, with black synthetic leather and quilted and cushioned areas, with orange stitching. Other features include illuminated window control switches and the addition of USB-C ports.

In terms of powertrain, the RAV4 Adventure is powered by the same hybrid powertrain as the standard RAV4. It comes with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, petrol engine that works in tandem with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle.

According to Toyota, this reinforces the model’s go-anywhere spirit, with standout rugged styling that’s ready for life in the great outdoors. Also, they have said that the newer version will broaden the model’s market reach to people who want a vehicle that matches their love for life off the beaten track while preserving the performance and efficiency benefits of Toyota’s hybrid-electric technology”.

New 2021 Force Gurkha to launch on 27th September

New 2021 Force Gurkha to launch on 27th September. The brand has said that they have revealed the new Gurkha in the final production-spec ahead of its launch on September 27, 2021. The company says that deliveries of the SUV will be set to go from October 15.

As for what this new SUV will offer, the design is said to be similar to the outgoing model though the entire body shell is new. There would also be noticeable styling changes include a new grille, bumpers, light clusters, larger windows for the rear passengers – the company calls them panoramic windows – and a larger rear windshield to aid rear visibility. Even the cabin now is supposed to get more notable changes with the new dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system, and front-facing second-row captain seats.

As for the features it offers, it comes with support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and supports phone calls via Bluetooth. It also includes tilt and telescopic adjust steering, individual armrests for the rear seats, USB charging sockets for all four occupants, power windows, central locking, air-conditioning, LED headlamps with DRLs, fog lamps, and cornering lamps too.

In terms of powertrain, it now comes with an upgraded engine, so the 2.6-liter diesel now meets the BS6 regulations. The unit puts out 91hp and 250Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The erstwhile Gurkha Xtreme’s 140hp 2.2-liter diesel has been dropped. As before the Gurkha gets four-wheel drive with low range and manual locking front and rear differentials.

MG introduces AI in cars for the Indian Market with Astor. MG says that its new Astor is based on the MG’s successful global platform, ZS. This new MG Astor is said to be on display at MG showrooms from 19th September and bookings will start soon thereafter.

Commenting on this Carl Gotham, the Advanced Design Director at the MG’s Global Design Centre in London, UK said, “The concept of Emotional Dynamism brings a premium feel to Astor. The mid-size SUV is a visual delight with an exceptional level of detailing and remarkable features. We have placed design at the center of creating the car to make it look as good as its technology. It takes forward the MG’s brand’s legacy with cutting-edge technology and design excellence. India can look forward to immersing into a seamless driving experience with personal AI assistance inside MG Astor.”

The maker also claims that it comes with a style, that will connect with consumers. It has a prominent Bold Celestial Grille that makes a solid on-road impression. The SUV poses an elegant and ready-for-action stance with a classic leopard jump shoulder line. Astor’s nine crystal diamond elements in the LED headlamps make for a distinct hawk-eye expression with precise details.

As for the interiors, the car comes with soft-touch and premium material, and in terms of the powertrain it will be coming in two engine options – the Brit Dynamic 220 TURBO petrol engine with a 6-speed AT delivering a whopping 220Nm of torque and 140ps of power. The maker has said they have partnered with BOSCH for ADAS in Astor. For features, with which the car ensures a safer driving experience with 27 standard safety features like ESP, TCS, and HDC. 

Other features include 6 airbags, 6-way power-adjustable driver seats, electric parking brake, heated ORVM, rain-sensing wiper, PM 2.5 filter, panoramic sky roof, rear AC vent, and front and rear armrest,10.1-inch HD infotainment system for the cinematic experience, and full digital cluster with 7-inch embedded LCD screen

Kia Sonet crosses one lakh sales milestone in less than 12 months. Kia has also said that, during the same period, the vehicle also became the fourth highest-selling SUV in the country. Skoda announces a new Service concept ‘Compact Workshops’. Skoda says that they are aiming to enhance the customer service experience. Skoda even says that the brand will open 30 new compact workshops across the country by the end of this year.

Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, said, “2021 is marked as the year of growth for the ŠKODA brand in India. With the launch of KUSHAQ, there is a substantial growth in our volumes and despite the challenging environment, we have managed to have a really successful launch. Along with growing our volumes, enhancing the customer experience and our journey of customer-centricity is pivotal to our success in India. We have already introduced several initiatives on this front, and I am happy to announce the start of ‘ŠKODA Compact Workshops’. Our objective is to cater to the growing customer base and ensure that customers have a seamless experience with the ŠKODA brand.

Skoda has also said that all sales branches in non-metro locations will have a compact workshop, which will have a minimum service facility of two bays.

The brand has said that they will also start operations in some new markets with this service-first concept of ‘ŠKODA Compact Workshops’. These will cater to existing customers and instill confidence in potential customers in new and emerging markets. Customers would also be able to avail of other minor repairs viz replacement of bulbs, wiper blades, car detailing and accessories fitment amongst others which don’t require specialized tools.

Lotus Motorsport division reveals their Emira GT4 race car. The brand has revealed an all-new competition-spec GT4 challenger and at its core is the critically acclaimed Emira sports car. The maker says that it is developed in collaboration with project partner RML Group, the race-ready concept is yet another milestone in the transformation which is taking place in every area of the Lotus business and brand.

Richard Selwin, Race Programme Manager, Lotus commented: “The all-new Emira GT4 is an exciting next step following the hugely successful launch of the Emira road car. The composite bodywork makes the car lightweight and, coupled with Toyota’s race-proven 3.5-litre V6 engine and optimised GT4 aerodynamics derived from the road-going Emira’s advanced exterior design, the Emira GT4 promises to be more than competitive.

Ford to stop manufacturing their cars in India

Ford to stop manufacturing their cars in India. This has officially been announced by the brand itself. They entered the market in India back in 1994, and now they have announced that they would be stopping the production of its cars and SUVs in India.

Bear in mind, that they won’t stop selling their cars in India, for local sales, they’ll cease immediately while export manufacturing will wind down at the Sanand plant by Q4 2021, and the Chennai engine and vehicle plants by Q2 2022. They would operate by selling imported CBU models and they have also announced that they will be significantly expanding their 11,000-employee Business Solutions team in India in coming years to support Ford globally.

Jim Farley, Ford Motor Company’s president and CEO said, “Despite investing significantly in India, Ford has accumulated more than $2 billion of operating losses over the past 10 years and demand for new vehicles has been much weaker than forecast.”

Ford has said that it would continue to have a presence in India and will increase its business solutions team that will support Ford globally, the team is said to focus on engineering, technology, and business operations. The company also said that India will remain Ford’s second-largest salaried workforce globally and in addition to Ford Business Solutions, Ford India will continue engine manufacturing until Q2 2022 for exports. Reports suggest that about 4000 employees are expected to be affected by the developments and the company will work with the employees, unions and all stakeholders to plan a fair settlement too.
